After everything is said and done after a wedding, other than your cherished memories, photos are the only thing you’ll have to look back on your special day (except maybe the debt!).

Practice before the Wedding

Do an engagement shoot with your wedding photographer or have a friend go out and take pictures of you in different poses and from different angles. Are there specific things you want photographed? Make a list of what you’d like photographed so the photographer knows. While your photographer most likely has a great eye for capturing detail, you’ll want to make sure certain things are photographed. The only way to ensure this is to be very specific with the photographer up front.

Plan for Divorced Dynamics

If you know you’re going to have logistical problems handling warring groups of family members, you will need to carefully plan for this and figure out a list of shots you’d like and with who, and plan your time out efficiently so your special day doesn’t get absorbed with accommodating all the extended family members.

Learn about your Location Ahead of Time

Don’t wait until the day of to figure out where you’d like to be photographed. Go to the venue ahead of time and figure out exactly where you’d like to take the photos. Then, create a list that you will share with your photographer so you will both be on the same page before festivities begin.

Create a Master Schedule

Wedding party and guests alike do not like protracted photo sessions. Make sure you plan out the time of the photographs so you won’t be doing it for hours and hours on your wedding day. In fact, in Israel a lot of my family members have their photo shoot like a week before the actual wedding so they can take their time with all of the photos they take.

Decorate the Bridal Dressing Room

Shots of the bride getting ready are super common. However, one thing many people overlook is how the bridal dressing room looks. Is there clothes strewn about? Are there empty shelves or a pile of something or another stacked in the background? You don’t want to go overboard decorating, but just make sure it is cleaned up and ready to go before photographs are taken.
